New Ubuntu-based managed OS for all Managed Kubernetes Worker Nodes
Scheduled Maintenance Report for Public Cloud
Completed
Initial Planned starting date : 27 January 10AM UTC
Initial Planned End Date : 27 January 5PM UTC

New Planned date ; Early March 2020

Services concerned : All worker nodes for all Kubernetes Managed Services in all regions

As stated in an email sent to all Kubernetes users early November and to support more worker node profiles and simplify upgrades, we decided to switch from a CoreOS image to an Ubuntu-based image.
The vast majority of users will be unaffected by this but those with specific OS settings in service containers may need to adjust these.
All new worker nodes created or upgraded after this date (at your request or during security patch updates) and any services reset will be moved to Ubuntu.

With this migration to Ubuntu, it becomes impossible to create nodes with a name containing a point.
For already existing nodes, when migrating to Ubuntu, the node will be automatically renamed by replacing the dots with dashes.
ex: env-prod.1.16. node-1 --> env-prod-1-16-node-1

Update(s):

Date: 2020-03-17 16:31:54 UTC
The activation of Ubuntu nodes is still in progress.

Date: 2020-02-11 18:01:57 UTC
Update is planed for march, 17

Date: 2020-01-24 16:06:51 UTC
Our latest tests preparing the move revealed some instabilities regarding storage management.
We decided to postpone the move to a further date to avoid any negative impact on your services.
We currently target a new date, with the same behaviour, early March 2020.
We will make sure to update this task as soon as a final specific day is defined.
